SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- A bumbling robbery suspect dropped his wallet containing his ID while running off with a woman's purse in Santa Clarita.

Sheriff's officials received a call about a robbery at a parking lot at 19200 Soledad Canyon Road on Nov. 1.

The victim, a 35-year-old female, told investigators that she was loading her groceries in her car when a man approached her from behind and stole her purse.

As the woman chased the robber, she and another witness saw the suspect's wallet fall out from his pants pocket. The wallet contained the suspect's ID. Officials identified the suspect as 35-year-old Ismael Soto.

Upon further investigation, authorities found that Soto may also be involved in a separate unrelated incident involving criminal threats and battery that occurred in the Canyon Country in September.

Detectives are now searching for Soto, who they believe may be living in Sylmar or North Hollywood.

If you have any information about Soto's whereabouts, you're urged to contact Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
