RIALTO, Calif. (KABC) -- Rialto residents held a vigil Saturday at a local church for the 14 victims killed in the San Bernardino terror attack.
Members of St. Catherine of Siena Church scheduled the vigil before finding out that one of their own was among those killed in the shooting. The names of each of the victims was read aloud and a bell rang each time.
"I feel like they were so young and knowing your life can end whenever is really sad," resident Pilar Negrete said.
More than 200 people gathered at the church and united in their grief. Several of the victims attended the church, including 27-year-old Yvette Velasco.
Ryan Reyes grew up in the church. He hopes his partner of three years, Lawrence Daniel Kaufman, will be remembered for his generous heart.
"(He should be remembered) just as the fun-loving guy that he was and as the free spirit and light to the world that he was because he really was the world's friend," he said.
The community of UC Riverside also gathered together at the campus for a candlelight vigil to honor the victims, two of whom were alumni - Damian Meins and Sierra Clayborn.
