RIALTO, Calif. (KABC) -- A Rialto man beaten with an aluminum baseball bat in a suspected hate crime died of his injuries Thursday.
Armando Barron, 54, was repeatedly hit in the head with the bat on Sunday in the 300 block of North Maple Street. Surveillance video shows Barron's suspected attacker, 22-year-old Jeremiah Bell, running from the area soon after.
Barron was rushed to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. His family members had set up a GoFundMe account to raise money to pay for his medical expenses.
Bell was arrested the next day for attempted murder with a hate crime enhancement. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $700,000 bail. He is awaiting court proceedings.
