HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Lifeguards closed three Orange County beaches after a 10-foot shark was spotted swimming near a surfer on Thursday.

The shark was seen near 23rd Street in Huntington Beach at about 3 p.m. Thursday, prompting a two-mile closure of the waters along Bolsa Chica State Beach, Seal Beach and Sunset Beach. No state beaches are affected.

If no other sharks are spotted, the beaches will reopen at 4 p.m. Friday.
