Suspect killed in Lake Balboa officer-involved shooting

LAKE BALBOA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A suspect was killed in an officer-involved shooting in the Lake Balboa area Friday morning.

LAPD West Valley officers responded to a vandalism call on the 6700 block of Hayvenhurst Avenue around 3:28 a.m. The officer-involved shooting occurred as police tried to detain a male suspect. The circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear.

The suspect died at the scene. No officers were injured.

Hayvenhurst Avenue was shut down between Kittridge and Vanowen streets for the investigation.
