Suspect sought after opening fire on man in car in Santa Ana

SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- Santa Ana police are searching for a suspect who shot a man while he was in his car early Sunday morning.

Authorities received a call around 2:12 a.m. regarding the shooting.

The victim and his girlfriend were in a car when the couple began arguing. The victim's girlfriend ended up exiting the car near the 2100 block of South Fairview Street.

A suspect then approached the victim's car and an argument ensued. The victim and his girlfriend, who got back into the vehicle, drove away.

The suspect then followed the couple to the 2300 block of West Harvard Street and opened fire.

The victim was hit in the head and is in critical condition at a local hospital, while his girlfriend was not hurt. The suspect fled the scene in a two-door white Honda Civic. Authorities did not have a description of the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
