Suspected prowler shot to death by deputy in Hawaiian Gardens
A suspected prowler was killed in a deputy-involved shooting in Hawaiian Gardens.

HAWAIIAN GARDENS, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspected prowler was killed in a deputy-involved shooting in Hawaiian Gardens.

Los Angeles County deputies responded to a call about a prowler in the 12000 block of 216th Street at around 9:40 p.m. Sunday. The caller said a man was knocking on his/her door and was trying to get inside the house.

Deputies arrived on scene and began to search the premises. One deputy came across the suspect in the backyard of the home, and that's when a deputy-involved shooting took place.

The suspect, described by authorities as a 25-year-old Hispanic male, was shot in the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A weapon was not located. No deputies were hurt.
