'Suspicious thermos' prompts bomb squad investigation at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana

The Orange County bomb squad and hazmat crew respond to reports of a suspicious thermos at John Wayne Airport late Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department bomb squad sealed off John Wayne Airport to traffic after a suspicious thermos was found in the arrival area late Sunday night.

The bomb squad and hazmat crew responded to the scene around 10:15 p.m. and evacuated employees in the area for precaution.

A bomb squad robot eventually determined the thermos was harmless and the scene was cleared overnight.

The John Wayne Airport exit on the southbound 405 Freeway was temporarily closed during the investigation.

No flights were affected.
