Texas mother housing tigers, monkeys faces charges

HOUSTON (KABC) -- A Texas mother who housed exotic and dangerous animals faces charges for endangering her 14-year-old daughter.

Court documents revealed that Trisha Meyer had three tiger cubs, a full grown adult tiger, a fox, a skunk and, at least at one time, several monkeys in her home.

She allegedly told game wardens, "The tigers at their current ages were dangerous and could kill."

On Nov. 7, Meyer was arrested in Pahrump, Nevada, 60 miles west of Las Vegas. Her animals have since been confiscated and placed in animal control.

Animal control officers with BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions described her actions as extremely dangerous.

"Wildlife can pose a threat to anyone inside the house, especially if it isn't restrained," said Ashtyn Rivet, spokesperson for BARC.

Meyer is being held in Nevada on a $2,000 bail.
