Vigil, rally held for homeless man killed by LAPD officer in Venice

A vigil and rally was held in Venice for 29-year-old Brendon Glenn, the homeless man who was shot and killed by Los Angeles police, on Saturday, May 9, 2015.

A vigil and rally was held Saturday in Venice for 29-year-old Brendon Glenn, the homeless man who was shot and killed by Los Angeles police earlier this week.

A growing memorial has been set up where Glenn was shot Tuesday night during a confrontation with officers near Pacific and Windward avenues. Friends of Glenn said he was panhandling, but police said he was disturbing the peace.

Although surveillance video exists of the incident, it has not been released.

Eyewitness News learned this week that the video appears to show an officer shooting Glenn after it appeared they already had him under control.

Glenn was unarmed at the time and would later die of his wounds.

LAPD Police Chief Charlie Beck has expressed doubt whether the shooting was justified.

An investigation was underway.
