ECHO PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A water-main break caused a sinkhole to open up in Echo Park.

The break was reported shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday. The sinkhole, near the intersection of Glendale and Beverly boulevards, forced traffic to be diverted.

Crews with the Department of Water and Power shut the water off and worked on repairs all night long.

There have been a number of water-main breaks in the Los Angeles area over the last few months due to aging infrastructure.
