FRESNO, Calif. -- A woman accused of stabbing her romantic rival is now behind bars.

Fresno police say 28-year-old Lamikka Lee attacked another woman outside the Fresno County Jail just before 8 p.m. Saturday.

The victim, 25-year-old Vernisha Green, had been visiting her boyfriend, who's serving time there. She was stabbed in the scalp with a sharp instrument while sitting in the driver's seat of her car.

Officers say Lee is the ex-girlfriend of that same inmate. She was injured when the victim defended herself by kicking and flailing during the attack.

Lee was treated for cuts to her hand and forehead before being arrested and booked into jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
