LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A woman was convicted Tuesday for murdering her aunt, who was the mother of a Los Angeles police officer.

Prosecutors said 62-year-old Barbara Jean Davenport robbed and shot 79-year-old Cleo Hughes in her South Los Angeles home in June 2012.

Hughes was a bookkeeper for a family restaurant and kept money in the home. She was the mother of an LAPD training officer.

Davenport was linked to the crime through DNA evidence and is now facing life in prison. She is expected to be sentenced Oct. 1.
