SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A partially disrobed man who fled from a Simi Valley hospital was being treated after being shot at by officers Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., Simi Valley police responded to a radio call of a mentally distressed, partially disrobed man who had fled from Simi Valley Hospital.

Officers arrived within minutes and found the man, identified only as a 46-year-old Simi Valley resident, in the 2700 block of Alamo Street. Police said he was "highly agitated" and uncooperative with the officers who were attempting to take him into custody.

He was in possession of a blunt object and during the confrontation, officers shot at the man, police said. Authorities originally reported the officer-involved shooting happened on Sycamore Drive but later updated that information.

The man was treated and later transported to Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center. His condition was not known.

Simi Valley detectives were on scene investigating the incident. No further information was released.
