Pedestrian on 5 Fwy in Anaheim struck, killed

ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- A person was killed when he was struck by a car on the 5 Freeway in Anaheim early Sunday, CHP officials said.

A male victim was run over shortly after 2 a.m. near the Lincoln Avenue exit.

CHP officers were first told a car had hit some debris, but once they arrived, officers saw it was actually a person who had been walking on the road, authorities said.

The victim's identity was not released.

Investigators said the driver was cooperative and did not appear to be under the influence.

Authorities were investigating the cause of the crash and how the person got onto the freeway.
