Suspects sought in 3 Santa Clarita pharmacy burglaries

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- Three Santa Clarita pharmacies were targeted by burglars overnight on Thursday, and investigators are on the hunt for the suspects.

Santa Clarita sheriff's deputies responded to a call shortly before 1 a.m. of two burglaries that occurred in the area. The incidents were reported at The Druggist in the 27800 block of Smyth Drive; Saugus Drugs & Hallmark in the 27600 block of Bouquet Canyon Road; and the Newhall Pharmacy in the 24200 block of Main Street.

"It's scary. It's scary that it was so close," said Rosalina Hernandez, who works at a medical clinic next door to the Newhall Pharmacy, adding that it had also been targeted in the past. "What you're doing is, you're bringing our community down and it's not fair for the people who live in Santa Clarita."

Pharmaceutical drugs, including painkillers, were taken at both locations. The three burglaries are believed to be connected, sheriff's officials said.

Investigators said they were looking for four suspects who forced their way in through the front entrances. They were wearing hooded sweatshirts and gloves. A detailed description of the suspects was not released.

Officials said they were looking into surveillance video.

No one was harmed in the burglaries.
