Pierce Brosnan's Malibu home damaged by fire
Los Angeles County firefighters responded to a fire at actor Pierce Brosnan's home in Malibu Wednesday night.

MALIBU, Calif. (KABC) -- Los Angeles County firefighters responded to a fire at actor Pierce Brosnan's home in Malibu Wednesday night.

The blaze broke out in the garage of the residence in the 31000 block of Broad Beach Road around 9:48 p.m. Brosnan and his family got out safely after they were alerted by a smoke detector.

"Glad they're OK. They're wonderful people. Sorry to hear about the fire, but glad that there's no injuries," said neighbor Andy Stern.

Firefighters were able to knock the blaze down in 35 minutes. One firefighter was treated for a minor injury.

Damages to the structure, garage and its contents were estimated to be more than $1 million.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
