President Barack Obama made history on Sunday when he became the first sitting president in nearly a century to visit Cuba. Diplomatic ties between the two nations were reestablished in 2015 following a U.S. embargo against Cuba that lasted over half a century.

The last president to visit Cuba while still in office was Calvin Coolidge in 1928.
