SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man said he found bundles containing dozens of ballots outside his San Pedro home on Saturday.

Jerry Mosna told ABC7 the ballots were found on his neighbor's porch in their small complex.

According to Mosna, the ballots had different names on them but were all addressed to his neighbor's residence.

Mosna said he took the ballots to the Los Angeles Police Department on Monday, but they told him it was an issue to take up with the United States Postal Service.

He said the ballots were returned to the USPS on Wednesday. One of Mosna's neighbors also called the Los Angeles County Registrar to report the incident.

In a statement to ABC7, Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan said in part, "We are carefully reviewing our records and gathering information to fully identify what took place. Our preliminary assessment is that this appears to be an isolated situation related to a system error that occurred causing duplicate ballots to be issued to an address entered for a single voter. We are working directly with the system vendor to ensure the issue is addressed and to identify any similar occurrences."

Logan stated USPS indicated all the improperly addressed ballots were returned to the L.A. County Registrar.

He also said the ballots are signature checked to provide a "safeguard against someone other than the registered voter completing and submitting a ballot."

ABC7 reached out to the United States Postal Service for comment and has not yet heard back.
