POMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- At least one person was killed in a car crash in Pomona overnight, which temporarily shut down all lanes of the 71 South Saturday morning, authorities from the Pomona Police Department said.
Pomona police responded to the crash near Old Pomona Road shortly before midnight, when officers said a vehicle was traveling northbound on State Route 71 at high speeds, lost control and crashed with a vehicle heading south on the 71, authorities stated in a press release.
One person in the vehicle traveling north was killed and a second occupant suffered serious injuries, police said. Two people in a second car suffered moderate injuries, while a third had serious injuries, according to Pomona PD.
All lanes at Mission Boulevard were reopened at 7 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, as officers investigated the collision.
Police were working to identify the person killed and the cause of the crash. Anyone with information was encouraged to contact the Pomona Police Department.
