Cool Kid Pooja Nagpal creates nonprofit to teach women self-defense
Our ABC7 Cool Kid for Thursday, Nov. 19, is Pooja Nagpal, who is a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo and wants to teach others to learn the confidence and skills of martial arts.

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Our ABC7 Cool Kid for Thursday, Nov. 19, is Pooja Nagpal, who is a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo and wants to teach others to learn the confidence and skills of martial arts.

As a way to teach those elements to others, she created a non-profit called Change-Defend. Pooja developed a curriculum in the non-profit consisting of 60 self-defense moves as well as physical strength training.

She specifically wanted to help women, especially girls and women in India, where her parents and other family members are from. She said the women in the country face many challenges, including discrimination.
