Crews battle raging fire threatening homes near Corona

CORONA, Calif. (KABC) -- A raging fire threatened several homes near Corona on Monday.

Crews responded to the five to six-acre brush fire on the 2000 block of Praed Street in the community of Home Gardens at about 6:30 p.m.

Officials said five structures were threatened by the fire.

CAL FIRE Riverside County battled the fire with the assistance of the Corona City Fire Department, Riverside City Fire Department and March Air Reserve Base Fire Department.

Officials stated the fire had the potential to grow to 20 acres as firefighters faced extreme fire behavior.

Moisture from Monday's rain did not slow the fire from spreading, according to officials.
