RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- Two Riverside police officers went out of their way to brighten up a young boy's day and are getting a lot of praise on social media on Tuesday.

Officers Jared O'Farrell and Taylor Lapoint were driving through a Riverside neighborhood on Sunday when they suddenly ran over a soccer ball.

A boy had accidentally kicked it onto the street and the ball ended up flat, so the officers went above and beyond.

Not only did they buy another soccer ball, but they also bought a basketball and a net.

Pictures were posted on Facebook and have been liked thousands of times.
