SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A small tornado touched down east of Sacramento amid snowy conditions on Christmas Eve, damaging the roofs of several homes and downing trees.
The twister was captured on cellphone video as it traveled an estimated eight miles through El Dorado and Amador counties.
The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning until 4:30 p.m. Thursday for counties east of Sacramento. The tornado brought 80-90 mph winds, the NWS said.

The National Weather Service is also investigating a separate reported tornado sighting in the Modesto area.
The storm system dumped more than 20 inches of snow on parts of the northern Sierra between Thursday and Friday morning, the NWS said.
