Suspect killed in San Bernardino officer-involved shooting identified

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect shot and killed by San Bernardino police on Sunday has been identified as 34-year-old Joe Pasquez Ortiz.

Officers responded to a call of two men armed with guns at Seccombe Lake at 547 N. Sierra Way at about 3:40 p.m.

When officers arrived, the reporting party pointed to the two suspects, who then fled from officers. One suspect surrendered at the park, but Ortiz fled on a bike through the park.

An officer later confronted the suspect in an alley near West 5th Street and Interocean Avenue and an officer-involved shooting occurred. Ortiz was pronounced dead.
