Porter Ranch church plants flags in honor of 9/11 victims

PORTER RANCH, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Porter Ranch church is remembering the victims of 9/11 by placing flags along a memorial walkway.

Ahead of the 15th Anniversary of 9/11, one of the darkest days in American history, members of Shepard of the Hills Church want to make sure we do not forget. That's why on Thursday, they planted flags representing each victim killed at the hands of terror that horrible day.

"There is nearly 3,000. There's one for every person that fell on 9/11, and then this year, we've added the terror attacks since 9/11, and there's about 10 of those," said Paula Carcium with Shepherd of the Hills Church.

For Tim James, 15 years ago seems like yesterday, and his heart still aches for so many who died on 9/11.

"It's something, to me, that brings us together as Americans," James said. He said after all this time, he still sheds tears for his fellow Americans who died on that day.

Margaret Sey said it's important to never forget 9/11.

"We should not forget, because why would we want this to happen ever again?" Sey said. "It's just so horrible. You don't want this to happen to anybody, not even your worst enemy. It's a very heartbreaking thing, and we all need to learn to get along."

More than 3,000 Americans were killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
