SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A transient man wanted in a pursuit earlier this month surrendered to officers while on the rooftop of a home during a standoff in Simi Valley Friday.

A Simi Valley police officer spotted 30-year-old Brian Nissen of Thousand Oaks driving a vehicle around 8:30 p.m. when the suspect pulled into a condo complex in the 1100 block of Fitzgerald Road and ran off.

Authorities said Nissen left a woman and a child inside the vehicle behind, and hid on the rooftop of a home in the 1000 block of Hilview Circle.

Residents were evacuated from the house, where a perimeter was set up.

After delaying the inevitable, Nissen climbed off the roof and surrendered to authorities a short time later, Simi Valley police said.

He was booked into Ventura County Jail for felony evading from a chase he led on Nov. 4, an outstanding warrant and other charges.

The woman in the vehicle was also arrested and booked into Ventura County Jail on an unrelated warrant.
