LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One lucky person purchased a winning Powerball ticket in Massachusetts and is now more than $700 million richer, according to lottery officials.

The winning numbers were: 6, 7, 16, 23, 26 and Powerball 4

Lottery officials said it is the largest single-ticket jackpot win in North American history.

No one had won the Powerball since June 10, which is why the jackpot continued to grow to record numbers. By the time the winning numbers were drawn, the jackpot had grown to $758.7 million, with a cash payout of $480.5 million.

The more than $700 million jackpot is the second largest in the lottery's history. The largest jackpot was $1.6 billion and was shared by three people in January 2016.

According to Powerball's website, a winning ticket was purchased in Massachusetts. After initially saying the ticket was purchased at a convenience store in Watertown, the Massachusetts State Lottery later said it was in fact bought at Pride Station & Store in Chicopee.

The Chicopee business also sold a $1-million ticket, as did a variety store in Dorchester.

Powerball is played in 44 states as well as Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
