Angels Flight is ready to roll again

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Almost four years after Angels Flight shut down following a deadly derailment, it is ready to roll again.

Operators expect final approval, allowing the repaired and restored funicular to resume operations on Thursday, Aug. 31.

Angels Flight is billed as the shortest railway in the world.

The return comes six months after L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti announced partnership that would repair and reopen it by Labor Day.

The newly formed Angels Flight Development Company spent almost $5 million on the project.

The return to service comes with a price hike. One-way rides will now cost $1, but Metro Tap cardholders will pay just $0.50.
