COVINA, Calif. (KABC) -- Students in Covina received a lesson in patriotism in honor of Veterans Day.

The Field of Valor was set up at Sierra Vista School and features 2,000 American flags.

Each flag was specifically dedicated to a veteran by a family member or friend.

Students had the opportunity to stop at each flag and read the veteran's name and a story about their heroism.

The Field of Valor began in Covina back in November of 2012. Donations made for the flag dedications go to providing assistance to local veterans and the family of deployed active duty military members.
