Hot potato: Spud photograph sells for $1 million

A photograph of an organic Irish potato taken by celebrity photographer Kevin Abosch recently sold at an auction for more than $1 million.

Abosch, who is known for his portraits of famous people like Yoko Ono and Malala Yousafzai, typically charges up to $500,000 for his work.

He revealed this month that he sold a simple portrait of an organic Irish potato to a European businessman last year.

The man reportedly paid one million euros for "Potato #345," the equivalent of $1,080,000.

Abosch says the man saw it while dining at the photographer's home in Paris.

If the sale price is verified, it will be the 15th most expensive photo ever sold.
