PALMDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- The investigation into the Palmdale gas station that underpaid a winning lottery ticket by thousands of dollars is now complete, and lottery investigators say it was just a misunderstanding.
A clerk at the Chevron on North Sierra Highway paid an undercover agent $75 instead of telling him he won $75,000.
Investigators say the mistake was due to the clerk's lack of training.
"While there were some inconsistencies regarding the proper procedures in handling the lottery ticket, the Lottery is satisfied that the incident was a result of the clerk's misunderstanding of those procedures. Further training of the retail staff will take place," lottery officials said in a statement.
If you have a winning ticket, officials say ask for the validation receipt, which shows exactly how much you've won.
