Lotto fever hits SoCal for large Powerball, Mega Millions jackpots
For the second time, the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots both surpassed $300 million, and lines are growing across SoCal as people try for a piece of the prize.

ORANGE, Calif. (KABC) -- For the second time in lottery history, the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots both surpassed $300 million, and lines are growing across SoCal as people try for a piece of the prize.

The Mega Millions prize is at $306 million for Friday's drawing, and the Powerball is at $384 million for Saturday's drawing.

One 7-Eleven in Orange has had big winners in the past, making it a lucky retailer.

"I always end up winning and it's always due to the cashier saying, 'hey, you should buy a ticket today,'" Santa Ana resident Dustin Zarend said.

The store owner said he's sold more than 1,200 tickets Thursday and expected even more sales Friday. Some people went for the Quick Pick, while others picked special numbers.

In case you're feeling really lucky, it's estimated the odds of winning both jackpots is one in 88 quadrillion - that's 15 zeros.
