Riverside haunted house shut down before Halloween
A haunted house has drawn crowds of spectators to a Riverside neighborhood to the ire of many neighbors.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- Pumpkins made of moving lights sing to hip hop music and dance around the windows and garage doors of a two-story home. The light installation, created by lighting expert Kevin Judd, is part of a haunted house that has drawn crowds of spectators to a Riverside neighborhood.

That is until it was shut down.

"Everybody was having a good time. The kids were dancing. Adults were dancing, enjoying it. And they (police) came and said that it was time to shut off," neighbor Brandi Justice said.

This is the second location where Judd has had to pull the plug. In 2012, his homeowner's association axed the festive display following complaints of large crowds and traffic.

This year, the Riverside Police received 11 noise complaints against the house.

"At first, it was a novelty, it was kind of cool. But two times a night, three times a night?" neighbor Johnny O. said. "It just brought a lot of people that didn't care about the neighborhood."

Judd said this year, the home, which is across from a park, was much better situated to handle the show.

"This is one of those parks where there's a lot of baseball, football, soccer games. Screaming moms and dads are louder than our show," Judd said.

Neighbor Nesha Crossman agreed.

"Actually, last night our kids made the comment that we wish the music was a little louder," Crossman said.

Although there will be no more shows this year, Judd will be looking into getting permits next year.
