DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Volunteers called the Vet Hunters are helping veterans in need this holiday season in the heart of downtown Los Angeles' Skid Row.

The Vet Hunters organization helps homeless veterans all year round - but Wednesday's event was special. At Operation Winter Wonderland, volunteers handed out In-N-Out burgers, water, clothes and supplies to ensure a good Christmas for the thousands of homeless veterans in the city.

"The veterans are the ones that put their lives on the lines for us. A lot of people don't think about the fact that we've got a lot of homeless brothers and sisters out there in the shadows," said Kevin George with Vet Hunters.

Wednesday's program was expected to feed, provide clothing and services to over 1,000 homeless vets.
