Ontario firefighters surprise single mother of 9 with Spark of Love toys
ONTARIO, Calif. (KABC) -- The holidays are right around the corner and many families are struggling like never before. So Spark of Love, local firefighters and other community partners are getting an early start with our holiday toy drive and gift giving. A family in need from Ontario had Christmas come a bit early.
"It's really hard with the holidays coming up and having a lot of kids," said Alma Ceja, a single mother of 9. "I only depend on one income and I just wanna see a smile on my kids."
"If it wasn't for this Spark of Love work to bring holiday magic to kids, there are thousands of kids that will wake up Christmas morning and wonder what happened," said Dr. Cid Pinedo, CEO of Children's Fund.
"We get to help the community as part of our regular job," said Jake Medina, a firefighter at Ontario Fire Department. "This is an opportunity in the holiday season for us to be able to help the families in need that we serve everyday."
"Seeing their face and their joy is really gonna make our Christmas," said Ceja.
