WASHINGTON -- Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow that will keep him out for about eight weeks.

The team announced the lefty was having an arthroscopic debridement on Wednesday afternoon.

Dr. David Altchek will perform the operation in New York. The Dodgers said Wood will begin his rehab in the next few days.

Wood hasn't pitched since May 30 because of the elbow problem. He's on the 60-day disabled list after an initial MRI found an elbow impingement.

The 25-year-old is 1-4 with a 3.99 ERA in 10 starts this season. He's 27-30 with a 3.38 ERA in 108 major league games with the Dodgers and Atlanta Braves.
