Source: UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone bound for Texas A&M

UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone is headed to Texas A&M, where he will be theAggies' offensive coordinator, a source told ESPN.com.

Mazzone, 58, replaces Jake Spavital, who "mutually parted ways" with A&M on Sunday. Spavital was with the Aggies the past three years, the last two as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator.

Mazzone had been offensive coordinator at UCLA for the past four seasons and held the same position at Arizona State in 2010 and 2011. He also has been an assistant with theNew York Jets, Ole Miss, NC State, Oregon State Beavers, Auburn, Minnesota, TCU and Colorado State.

A source told ESPN.com'sKyle Bonagura that A&M offered Mazzone a three-year guaranteed contract, which was finalized Friday.

Mazzone's contract at UCLA was set to expire on June 30, and a retention bonus of $330,500 just vested on Dec. 31, 2015. He was set to receive half on the first pay date following Jan. 1, but by leaving now he will forfeit the other half, which was to be paid on the first pay date after June 30. In total, Mazzone made $701,750 in salary and bonuses during his final season with the Bruins.

Taylor Mazzone, his son who also served as UCLA's quarterbacks coach, will join the Aggies as well.

Last month, Noel Mazzone was hospitalized for a few days, reportedly with blood clots in his lungs. He was released and coached the Bruins' Foster Farms Bowl game againstNebraska.

Mazzone will be Texas A&M's fourth offensive coordinator since coach Kevin Sumlin was hired in 2012. Kliff Kingsbury left to become Texas Tech's head coach after the 2012 season, and running backs coach Clarence McKinney filled the role in 2013 before Sumlin decided to replace McKinney with Spavital before the 2014 season.
