LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- As fans and players prepare for the highly anticipated Saturday rivalry football game between USC and UCLA, both Southern California schools will also be in a donation battle to feed the hungry.

Teams from the University of California and University of California, Los Angeles and supporters of each school were told they could donate money to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank by texting "Go UCLA" or "Go USC" to 41444.

Meanwhile, fans of the local teams were excited as the countdown continued, especially USC fans hoping for a stop in the string of defeats against the Bruins.

"They've lost the last three years," said Joseph Vasquez, a Trojan fan. "It's time that we regroup, regain and we got to fight on."
