LAS VEGAS (KABC) -- Wildfire season in California burns thousands of acres and hundreds of homes a year, but what if those scenes can become a thing of the past?

Forte Specialty Contractors specialize in building homes out of fire-resistant steel instead of highly combustible wood, improving the chance that a home won't burn down.
"Doing a non-combustible roof system with metal framing I think that your chances of survival at least for your home anyway, go way up," said Scott Acton, CEO of Forte Specialty Contractors.
