LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities on Thursday released surveillance video that shows a hit-and-run vehicle moments before it slammed into a 23-year-old skateboarder in Long Beach on Aug. 30, leaving him critically injured.

The Long Beach Police Department also distributed a photo of the suspected driver, identified as Victor Garcia or Gracia, who is being sought.

In the footage, the skateboarder and the dark-colored SUV are seen traveling westbound on Anaheim Street at Oregon Avenue about 1:40 p.m. when the vehicle jumps a curb and begins to veer out of control.

The video does not show the moment of impact, which left Luis Enrique Tejeda in critical condition.

According to the police, a witness followed the SUV and obtained its license plate number after the driver fled the scene. The 2004 Chevy Tahoe was later found abandoned a few blocks from the crash site.

Tejeda, a Long Beach resident, remained hospitalized Thursday.

The suspect is described as 25-35 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, 130 pounds, with black hair. He is possibly from Cudahy or South Gate, investigators said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Long Beach police Detective Sirilo Garcia at (562) 570-7132.
