WINNETKA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A suspect died in an officer-involved shooting that happened in Winnetka on Saturday.

Authorities responded to reports of a family disturbance around 7:30 p.m. in the 6900 block of Oakdale Avenue. An officer-involved shooting occurred and the suspect was struck, authorities said.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Neighbors said it was a tense scene outside as a perimeter was set up while authorities at one point searched for the suspect.

A resident named Steve said he heard a lot of gunfire.

"I heard multiple shots - two or three shots - then I heard return fire," he said. "Then the streets just stacked with SWAT and everybody else. I went and got my family, told them all to get on the floor and came back out. Made sure nobody was going to jump my fence and come into my yard."

The investigation was ongoing.
