Culver City taco shop fears CicLAvia will slash sales
The owner of Tito's Tacos is worried CicLAvia will drive away her loyal customers and cut her sales on a normally busy Sunday.

CULVER CITY, Calif. (KABC) -- Thousands of cyclists, runners and walkers will flood the Westside Sunday for CicLAvia, but not everyone is looking forward to it.

Six miles of roads between Culver City and Venice will be closed, and that has the owner of Tito's Tacos on Washington Place very concerned about business.

"My biggest concern is my regular customers. That's how we make a living here," owner Lynne Davidson said.

Davidson, who went to the Culver City Council, wanted the route changed to allow easier access for drivers and had threatened to file a lawsuit against the city.

CicLAvia says it's helping ease the situation by putting up bike racks and posting an attendant along Sepulveda Boulevard, which will be open to waive drivers in through the back alley.

"We've seen from past CicLAvia's that restaurants do a 20 percent bump in sales and maybe a 40 percent bump in sales if you actively engage in CicLAvia," said Aaron Paley, who co-founded the event.

Davidson is hoping CicLAvia will bring in enough business to cover what she fears she could lose on a busy summer Sunday.
