Inflation hits the tooth fairy, according to new study
The tooth fairy now leaves children an average of more than $6 per tooth, up from $1.30 when the annual study was first conducted 25 years ago

A new study has found that inflation is now even having an effect on how much money kids are earning from the tooth fairy when they leave a lost tooth under their pillow.

The insurance company Delta Dental conducts an annual poll of parents to find out how much they are leaving under their kids' pillows after losing a baby tooth.

This year's study found that parents are averaging a gift of more than $6 for every lost tooth, which is up 16% from last year.

This year's total is also up from the $1.30 average payment parents would leave for their child 25 years ago, when the study first began.
