SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A transgender woman is in the hospital after being shot in the back early Friday morning.

Authorities said she was found at a gas station at Harbor and Westminster boulevards in Santa Ana around 3 a.m.

It was unclear what led to the shooting. Authorities said the victim wasn't shot at the gas station, but she stumbled there after being hit.

There was no information on her condition or any suspect involved.
