WASHINGTON (KABC) -- President Donald Trump approved California's disaster declaration for areas affected by multiple destructive wildfires.

The White House released a statement saying that federal funding is now available.

Massive wildfires are sweeping through parts of California. In Orange County, at least 24 homes were destroyed and more than 5,000 people remain evacuated from their neighborhoods.

More than a dozen fires in Northern California have killed at least 15 people and damaged more than 1,500 residences and other buildings, according to authorities.
