Marine, father of 2 stabbed to death in Hemet bar parking lot

HEMET, Calif. (KABC) -- A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and father of two was found stabbed to death in a Hemet bar parking lot early Sunday morning.

Police received a call around 2:19 a.m. regarding reports of a stabbing at Elite Bar, 118 N. Harvard Street. Officers arrived and found a man unresponsive and suffering from a stab wound to his torso. He was taken to Hemet Valley Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives said a preliminary investigation revealed the victim and friends were attacked by a large group of people walking through the parking lot. Authorities also learned the group of people was around the lot before, during and after the attack.

The victim was identified as Nicholas Males, 28, of Whittier, who was in town visiting friends and family. A second person was also stabbed but is recovering at a local hospital. The person's name was not released.
