USPS prepared for busiest mailing day of year
The United State Postal Service prepared on Monday to handle large volumes of shipments for the busiest mailing day of the year.

WESTCHESTER, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Considered the busiest shipping and mailing day of the year, lines will be out the door at post offices Monday as people rush to ship their packages in time for Christmas.

To help those seeking an easier shipping experience, spokesperson for the United States Postal Service, Richard Maher, suggested using USPS.com.

"That's the place to go. That's the biggest post office in the nation. It's is open 24/7," Maher said.

In a 12 percent increase over last year, the post office said it will deliver more than 16 billion cards, letters and packages between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve this year.

Maher eased last-minute shipping concerns and said, "There's still time. Dec. 20 for first class mail, Dec. 21 for priority mail shipments and last minute Dec. 23 for priority mail express."
