1 dead, 1 injured in Valinda party shooting

VALINDA, Calif. (KABC) -- Los Angeles County sheriff's officials were investigating a shooting at a party that left one man dead and another injured in Valinda early Saturday.

The incident happened in the 400 block of Shipman Avenue in unincorporated East Valinda at about 2:48 a.m.

Detectives said as the party ended and the guests dispersed, the victims were leaving the location but were confronted by an unknown suspect.

The suspect then pulled out a gun and opened fire, fatally striking one victim in the upper torso.

The second victim was struck in the upper and lower torso and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Immediately following the shooting, a white SUV was seen fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed going westbound on Northam Avenue.

No further information was available, and the investigation was ongoing.
