VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- About 100 Los Angeles City firefighters battled a brush fire in the Sepulveda Dam Recreation area of Van Nuys on Friday.

The blaze broke out near Woodley Avenue and Burbank Boulevard around 4 p.m. The fire burned an estimated total of 8 to 10 acres in two areas north and south of Burbank Boulevard.

Several L.A. City Fire helicopters made water drops on the flames. No injuries were immediately reported and no structures were threatened.

Traffic in both directions on Burbank Boulevard from the 405 Freeway to Balboa Boulevard was blocked off for firefighting efforts.
